    Default DIY Enclosure Questions

Im planning on getting a male crested sometime soon and and planning out a DIY enclosure. I will most likely purchase him young so he will need an enclosure that can grow with him. My idea was to use corragated plastic like what is used for political signs and silicone it together. I plan for it to be 24" tall, 16" wide, and 12" deep. Does this sound good. I will use screen mesh for the front. I plan to have a small lamp on the top sitting on the mesh. It will have a small bulb to bring up my house temperature thats 72 to 77 degrees. Does this sound good?
    Thanks

the size of the cage is 19.9 gallons or somewhere along those lines. perfect for an adult gecko. i suggest getting a kritter keeper or a smaller cage for the little guy.
for the mesh, i suggest getting something that the lamp wont burn through. something like metal??? i really dont know.
the temp is about right. my only question is the corrugated plastic. is it non-toxic and safe for animals?? just a thought.
anyone who has experience making DIY cages can correct me for anything wrong.
    good luck!

Ninja is right about the size of the enclosure for a baby. Also, keep in mind if you get a hatchling... the breeder might not be able to find pores until its a little bit larger. Thats if you are wanting only a male.

Are you in the Clemson area?

Thanks, I was wondering about the the plastic too. I think its non toxic but Ill try to find the exact material it is made of. I was thinking that if I cut a piece of plastic the fits in the cage, I can move it up and down until its full size. I was planning on getting a male just because they are cheaper and more available. Since I am not planning to breed, the sex is not important. And I am actually in NC right now.
