    Default Preggo

When I was thirteenish, my mom came to me with some pretty cool news- I was going to be a big sister. The age difference was pretty significant, but I was excited- I'd been an only child for several years and I was intensely looking forward to having a little brother or sister to play with.

Not long after, Madison was born. She was pretty cool, but not into the 'gross' things like I was- the reptiles and the bugs...

Tonight we broke the news to Madison that SHE is going to be a big sister. Oh man, the age differences... not so bad for Madison, but I'm gonna be a fart by the time the new kid is her age!! She seemed excited, she wants a sister as well. I want a brother, so he can share in my love of sticky, scaly, creepy critters.

We'll see how that goes ;P

Congrats! My sister is expecting my first nephew this March! My niece (Madyson) was really wanting a sister, but I think she'll get used to him in no time.

I'm curious... how old are you?

Let me tell you the age difference between my siblings: I am 24-years-old.

I have a 21-year-old brother (not a bad age gap), I have a 16-year-old brother (still not much of an age gap) and I also have a 12-year-old sister (12 year difference, almost similar to yours).

However, when I was 16-years-old, a freshmen in high school.... my mom became pregnant with my little brother. It was the oddest thing ever, but let me tell you...I will most likely be having children within the next 5 years and my little brother will be no older than 15-years-old when he becomes an uncle. Creepy...haha

Wow, I was feeling guilty for waiting so long to have my second child, now I don't feel so strange! I was 27 when I had my first and now, a decade later, I'm having my second. Health issues and whatnot kept us from trying in that decade, now I'm so old it took me over a year to get pregnant. Having a second child was the hubby's idea (I'm an only and have no desire to procreate and fill the earth) and now he's said he 'bitter' about this pregnancy for being so far from the first kid. I've written it off to just him being an ass. Y'all have just reinforced that belief. Thanks!

I think the parents just planned the gap so they could have builtin free babysitters.

Congrats on all the new babies coming.

Ahaha, I hear that. Ma says you'd think myself and my younger sister wouldn't fight because we're so far apart, but we're SISTERS! We HAVE to fight!

It's so true. I'm the obligatory pay-free babysitter. They laugh when I ask for compensation.

The babysitting isn't as important to me as the fact that I could barely do the one when she was a baby/toddler. I see people do 2 or 3 back to back and I know for a fact there's no way I have the patience for that. I know my limitations and I'm not so great with the little screamers. There's no whining in my home and if you need something you go to daddy. No, I think 10 years is about how close I can handle having kids. There will be no more after this, I'm too old!

LOL-When I saw the subject, I thought YOU were preggo, Megan!!!

Don't feel too bad about the age difference-Katey and my oldest are 10 years apart, but my ex decided that it was a wonderful thing to give Jennifer a sister that's 19 years younger than her...THEN...another that's 22 years younger.

He'll be in the grave before the youngest graduates from high school!!

No matter which gender the baby is...just indoctrinate him/her in herps from a very early age, and you'll have a herp-buddy for life!!

Congratulations on the new sibling-either way!!

My 19 month old daughter loves nothing more than to go play with the lizards with her daddy. She loves to pet them and doesn't freak out at all when they climb on her. Mommy wanted a little princess and she got the exact opposite.
