    Default The cute MONSTER...

The new arrival at Dragontown... meet the Pixie! Not sure on the gender yet (didn't want to stress it and check the underbelly) but this creature has been hired to keep the insect population here in check.... and I can safely say it WILL be a job well done. Just about 2 inches long and took down three medium-sized dubias upon arrival. The last of the three was in its mouth sideways, so it took those stubby chubby arms and POUNDED both ends until the roach snapped into three pieces, then shoveled all three pieces in simultaneously. WOW. (Thanks to Limey for making the recommendation to get this beast!)

In six months (if male) this could be a 9-10 inch Jabba the Hut. These are the second largest frogs in the world. Females lay 1,000 eggs that hatch after just two days and I beleive what the father does not protect, he eats or they consume each oother... but the poles become froglets in like under 20 days or something like that. Full grown in 6 mos and could live 20 years. That's LOTS of eating!

WOW, I didn't realize they got that big. You'll have to make sure it doesn't get anywhere near your geckos or they'll be an expensive snack.

What size enclosure will you have to keep him/her in when they become an adult?

I wish my insect breeding would take off that seriously... I need an excuse for another critter!
