Depending on which type of water dragon it is, I'm not sure if the care would differ or not. Your best bet for now is to Google up a caresheet to get a general idea on what you need to do. Hopefully someone who knows about these guys can step in and give some more insight.
I know they need UVB and a basking area similar to what is recommended for adult Bearded Dragons. Depending on the size of it, the tank may or may not be suitable for it. Also it needs a source of water big enough for it to soak/swim in if it wishes.
Sorry I couldn't do more. Good luck!
I lost count..
It's been a few years since I kept a pair of Chinese water dragons...but the other reply is correct..you will need to provide a basking spot and uvb light..climbing areas and flat areas..a large pool of water that they can submerse themselves in...I also used a small air pump and air stone in the water to keep it moving...this keeps it from going stagnant and makes it more real for the dragon..change the water daily still..ours thrived off of gutloaded crix and mealworms dusted with vitamins calcium and d3..they need a good amount of space as they do get a good length..
thank you both! i have a large water dish it fits into in its cage, and a uvb and heat lamp

This site provides some good info...keep in mind that adult males are about 3 feet in length with tail..visit that site for care specifics
I JUST looked at that site lol thank you! We dont think he will get that big as his tank conditions have been very poor

Good luck...they really are fun herps to keep and are quite quirky indeed...the arm waving is by far the most entertaining thing to watch. I hope it works out..small enclosures will stress an animal that is outgrowing it so hopefully you have it in a larger tank and it will begin to thrive
He hasnt done the arm wag yet lol, but what he does do, when hes stressed/scared im nt sure which.. He sits perfectly still like a statue.. is this normal?
