I was wondering if my crested geckos are a heathly weight. My Male turns a year old next month and he is 24 grams. My female turns a year in september and she is 18 grams. They are in seperate cages because i know they are too young to breed I just wanted to know if they are at a healthy weight I can't post the pictures its hard to get the right sizing

I feed them everyday freeze dried crickets and babyfood. WHen i got them i was told to keep them on those two items but i am pulling away from the babyfood and feeding them clark and crickets.

i feed dusteds crickets mon and wed and clarks on fri, leaving it in there saturday night. i have shown great groth rates using that schedule. also try putting a bit of oil in the clarks for some extra fat as it nedds a bit and crix are mostly protein.

When I bought them in October I was told to feed them majority of baby food. and so for the longest time I did and as time grew on and i started researching more i realized that its a bad thing so i am trying to ween them off of it. The gecko that is about to turn a year old is almost 30 grams so he is not to much underweight which is good. I just have to worry about the female she was born on september 7th and weighs 19 grams so hopefully soon she will be a normal weight.

I am known to have very big, stocky cresties and I personally feel that the hatchlings/juvies and breeders should be fed a bit more regualarly then three days a week. I rotate with my schedule starting Monday with crickets, Tuesday with babyfood, Wednesday with crickets, Thursday with babyfood, Friday with crickets, Saturday with babyfood and take Sunday off. As the cresties get bigger/older and I am out any of those nights mentioned, it is not a real big deal if they don't get fed. I just find that if you give more food options at a young age, you have a gecko that is so well established by a year old. Mine average around the 35 to 40 gram size at a year old and I find that mostly with the females, I find the males tend to weigh a bit less than that at a year. Call them overweight, I call them stocky/robust.
When my cresties are around the year mark, I feed crickets one night, baby food the next, take the next off, crickets next, baby food the next etc making sure that no one has to be feed on Sunday (one day off from feeding)

My hatchlings start on dusted crix for the first month and pretty much eat daily! I'll do Baby food (ALWAYS mix a calcium / mineral supplement with it), Clarks and CGD twice to three times a week after that. Basically if my animals want to eat, they get fed... and they usually always want to eat! I'd say yours are definitely in need of plumping!
