    Default I'm in love!

    WITH MY NEW TORTOISE!

He arrived yesterday morning, after like YEARS of waiting and saving and researching and preparing for my first tort...

And he's CUTE!! Seriously a new level of cute. I am absurdly fascinated by him - I like watching him eat, walk, drink, and just sit. It's all so adorable. There is nothing cuter than a tortoise eating. Supposedly this species can be more reserved and "boring" than others and takes time to get used to new homes/people/etc, but he is pretty much the opposite and NOT shy. He ate out of my hand last night, even after being shipped the night before! I love him. Besides the fact that he tried to commit suicide yesterday and almost gave me a heart attack twice... but that's another story.

So, some quick pictures from tonight! Eating his yummy salad.

    Wut?! I'm not doing anything...

    I lied! I am NOMMING!

    This is so tasty.

    GET IN MAH BELLY!! (LOL!)

And some short videos, mainly so you all can see how cute tortoise mealtime is. :P

And because someone will certainly ask, he's an Ibera Greek Tortoise and was born the end of June. Currently about 2 1/2 inches or so SCL.

How big does he get & how long does he live for? My boyfriend and I have been wanting a tortoise, but I cant have anything like a Sulcata (as much as I would love to have one) or having to put them in my will (for they will outlive me.)

greeks dont get terribly big, if your looking for a smaller tortoise, you guys should read up on hermans, they are one of the smaller species.

And this tort is terribly cute, way to cute for its own good. I seriously dont think there is anything more cute then a baby tort.
lets just say I have a lot of stuff

Yeah, there are way too many reptiles that I want. I think I'm just going to end up staying with the geckos. We will see.

Thanks you guys! I just adore him... I'm thinking about the name Artemis, but we shall see.

Greeks are indeed one of the smaller species, as are Hermann's and Russians. Pancake torts also stay small, and with many species, males will usually mature to a smaller size than females. But you're not gonna find a tort that isn't long-lived!
