Default MY 500 gallon Saltwater Fish/Coral System!

    Hello,

I have been asked by a few to post pictures and describe my Saltwater fish and coral propogation system.

    Here are the main specs:
    - 6, 50 gallon display tanks
    - 1, 125 gallon sump
    - 75 gallon refugium has been added
    - Tek, T5, 6 bulb fixtures (two are in use, 4 more will be coming)
    - Barracuda return pump
    - 3, 45 gallon brute trash cans (1 for RO, 1 for fresh saltwater, 1 for dirty saltwater)
    - 1/2 HP Pacific Coast chiller
    - 1, Vertex Alpha Cone 250 Skimmer (another one to be added soon along with Ozone)
    - 12 Koralia 3's. 2 per tank.

    Current Live stock list:
    - 2 pairs of Platinum Clownfish
    - 1 pair of Snowflake Clownfish
    - 1 pair of Picassos (male grade A Picasso, female true perc)
    - 1 pair of Picassos (both grade A)
    - 1 pair of true Onyx
    - 1 pair of Ocellaris
    - 1 pair of Black Clowns
    - 1 pair of Black x Naked Clowns
    - 1 pair of flame hawks
    - 2 small kole tang
    - 2 sea hairs
    - TONS of snails/crabs
    - I do have 1 snowflake pair on order as well as a teardrop pair. Once those are bough, the system will be full of breeders.

I am taking pictures of the new setup since I have moved it from one place to another to allow for more reptile tanks! However here are a few of the fish!

    Picasso x true perc pair:

    Male Picasso from above pair:

    Platinum pair #1:

    Platinum pair #2, still young:

    Snowflake Clowns:

Here is a teaser pic of the 125 gallon Filtration system underneath some of the tanks:

I will take new pictures of the complete system later and post em' here!

PS: Sorry about my name in the pictures. These are very rare and hard to find fish. I have seen them for sale on other sites and this is the only way to put a stop to it..

    Thanks Erik

    - Thanks! Yelp, Platinum’s are of course my favorite. You wouldn't believe what I had to do to get these! lol.. I got some of the first ones released last year. You can find them a little easier now a days, but still tough and pricey!

    - All 18 of them! LoL. Once I add the last couple pairs the system will be at capacity of 24 clown fish, 12 pairs.

Gorgeous fish! Are salt water aquariums really hard to take care of? I'm looking into getting one soon! It's a dream aquarium of mine I've always wanted haha

They are defiantly not as easy as fresh water tanks. I have had 30, 50, 72, 125, 150, 180, 300 + gallon tanks in the past.

My advice - Read as many articles that you can prior to buying anything. Check out www.reefcentral.com for information on saltwater fish tanks. Just don't skimp on equipment and it is fairly easy. I have my entire system running on a laptop that will alert me via phone and email in case any of the water parameters go out of a "normal" range that I preset. I do water changes with the press of a button. I made everything on this system super easy since I don’t have a ton of time to be doing everything. It’s just very peaceful to come home to and watch.

    Thanks Erik

Thanks for your advice! And I admire your dedication to your fish! I've been going to libraries and reading informational books all week and I bought a nice guide book as well! I'm not getting one until I've researched every bit of it! Haha

Defiantly read, read, and read some more! I probably have over 20 saltwater books myself that I have bought along the way. I always love seeing someone do research on a project prior to beginning it! If you ever need any help or have questions feel free to drop me an email or PM!

Those platinum ones are weird, never seen a clown fish like that before. I still prefer the orange ones, those picasso ones are nice!
