Default New Born Leachianus!! NO MALE!!?!!

***UPDATED*** more pictures on the second page!

On September 12 my female Leachianus island x that we have raised since she was a baby and has never seen another male laid two HUGE eggs. Since we have never seen such beautiful eggs before we decided to keep them! We put them in some coconut fiber substrate and placed them under the sink since we knew this was a warm place in our apartment and away from our cats.

Well we never in our wildest dreams thought they were going to hatch, but the entire time we thought we were just wasting our time. Guess what!!? It wasn't!! Well this morning, my girlfriend woke up at 5:30am to use the restroom and noticed both of our cats trying to chase something in the bathroom. (this is normal because they typically chase crickets) but this time it was no cricket, it was a beautiful new born Leachianus gecko! After my girlfriend chased away the cats, she woke me up and we immediately started preparing a tank!

We are freaking out right now, our leachianus has never ever ever seen a male and these were her first eggs!! My girlfriend and I are beyond excited and welcome any tips! Enjoy the pictures. Word to the wise, if your leachie lays eggs KEEP THEM!!

    Here are the pics:

Here is a picture of the eggs the day we found them: the bottom one hatched:

Here she/he is!! She is a spitting image of her mom!

I will be posting more pics shortly!!

The virgin Mary and Jesus Christ of the gecko world have arrived, it seems.

Interesting story. Good luck with the little one!

It's not widely-documented but apparently others have witnessed parthenogenesis in leachies, though a large amount of skepticism comes with both of these links so your mileage may vary.

Congrats on the new hatchling though!

Congratulations! I just recently read an article about a guy in MN whose female Nuu Ana had a virgin birth. Truely remarkable! Please keep us posted if she continues to lay!

    Congratulations once again!

PS....Actually, two miracles happened here....Virgin birth AND rescued from the clutches of the cats! Thank GOD for late night bathroom breaks!
