    Default Crested Gecko Help (caging)

    Beginner questions:

    >Is a Medium Exo Terra Rainforest Habitat Kit (18"x18"x24") good for a Crested Gecko for his entire life?

    >Can a Crested Gecko live only on Repashy Crested Gecko Diet?

    >Do you need any UV light?

    >Temps: day 76-80F
    night 68-72F

    >Humidity: 70% but let it dry then spray again.

That's about it for the questions I had.
    Thanks

Yes the exo 18x18x24 will be fine for an adult. If you get a smaller gecko intially, you may want to keep him/her in something smaller until he/she is maybe 10 grams or so.

Yes a gecko could live solely on CGD, however, they will have a more protein enriched diet if you offer a few crickets, dusted with calcium w/ D3 once per week.

UV light is not needed however some people do believe it helps. Personally, I don't see how an aboreal, nocturnal creature can benefit as they are likely not in direct sunlight much in the wild.

Temps seem spot on, and humidity needs to cycle. So heavy misting is recommended at night, allowing to dry during the day.

1.) yes, you could even keep an adult pair or two females in a cage that size very comfortably.

2.) Yes, the Crested Gecko Diet by Repashy is beautiful because it is a complete diet and gives all the nutrients they need throughout their lifetime. Best of all, its got loads of flavours to try for variety. It never hurts to feed gutloaded and dusted insects once in a while as a treat, but some geckos won't touch insects while others love the hunt.

3.) UV is not necessary but a low level UVB bulb doesn't hurt at all either, especially if you have a live planted viv, the plants will sure like it! (It is also recommended for geckos that have MBD sometimes, as it can create a day/night cycle and help with their calcium absorption.)

4.) Exactly what menace said. Temps sound good, and Humidity can peak in the evenings when you mist, (they like to drink water droplets off the leaves and walls better than drinking out of a waterdish) but the cage should be allowed to dry out a bit during the day, otherwise you can get bacterial growth.

I agree with everybody else, but I keep a trio in my cage and it is all good. As saile says, low uv is nice, but not required,
