    Well...suckage.

They want $40 for a damn 60 watt heat emitter at Petco. PetSmart doesn't even HAVE a lower wattage heat emitter.
What burns me, is I KNOW I could find it cheaper online, but I won't get it by Tuesday.

I couldn't find a red tropical hibiscus plant.
I couldn't find prickly pear cactus at ANY grocery store.

I DID, however, find collard greens, curly endive, and escarole.
And for now, I have strawberries for his fruit days.

You can find prickly pear online. You can also get it at Petsmart, which is where I got mine. It was in a tiny little bottle. It is dried, you have to rehydrate it for 3 minutes before serving. They have all the prickly stuff taken off even!!
I found that mercury vapor bulb online at reptile supply for 25 bucks, so if you have a dome type housing....that might work. Think that is what I am going to use.
Temps here have gotten into the 60's and that 40 watt bulb is not warm enough now.
The vapor bulbs only come in 100 watt and 125 I think.

Really?? I'll have to go to petsmart and get some then!
    Thank you!!!

Also, I'm just going to buy a ceramic infrared heat emitter.
He'll get enough light in my room to see, and he'll get his fair share of UVB from outside.
One thing Terry told me is: They are tropical tortoises. Whenever he takes his outside, all they do is run and hide into the shade anyway.
I'm not too worried about UVB.

Terry has been absolutely GREAT so far!
His sites (redfoots.com and Turtletary.com) are SO informative. It has tutorials in pictures!

And I swear I've spoken to the man for a total of 4 hours on the phone!
I talked to him forever when arranging the transaction of my little guy. We talked about tortoises, geckos, and photography.
Then he called yesterday because he was having internet issues and couldn't log on to edit his site to put "sold" on the tortoise I bought, and he felt bad, so he wanted to call me and let me know.
He also wanted to let me know he received my payment.

He's a great communicator as long as you do not mind talking on the phone.

When it comes to redfoots, he's the man to talk to.

Lucky poo! I am so excited for you! And you always have the greatest names. I am so getting a tortoise when I get my own house.

    Thanks!!!
I was going to name him "Henney Buggy", but I was setting up his cage (so I could get temps right before he gets here), and all of a sudden "Stagger Lee" popped into my head and the song started going through my head for no reason.
    It was a moment.
It's how I name most of my animals.
    It just has to click.
Henney Buggy is cute, but it wasn't clicking.

Well, I've got everything I need for now.
I'm going to eventually hit a show, though, in the future which will be nice because I bet I can find heat emitters there a heck of a lot cheaper than $40 for a 60 watt ceramic emitter!
Right now I'm still trying to get the temps right in his cage.
Which it's supposed to be 85 degrees, but it's not wanting to heat it evenly.
