Well after a few unsuccessful attempts, I think I FINALLY got it right with the care. My fly trap has been dormant but is suddenly starting to flower!

Congrats!! The only carnivorous plant I've successfully wintered is a Purple Pitcher Plant (Northern variety). Maybe I'll see a flower this spring/summer too!
The leaves got all curly and I thought it was dying, but they got a real vibrant green. Now there's new traps sprouting and one stem shooting up that looks unlike any of the others so I am assuming it is going to bloom. The BIG thing I wasn't doing was letting the water sit for 24 hours to let the evil stuff filter out before watering them. Saw a bunch of care sites, none mentioned that!
Cool Mike, when I used to live in Wilmington, NC I always got to see them flower.
FYI- Venus Fly Traps are only found in the wild within a 50 mile radius of Wilmington, NC
Currently trying to get my Pitcher Plants to get going.
I've always wondered if you can keep carnivorous plants with your geckos...There are usually a few fruit flies buzzing around in there...

i bought a venus fly trap and a purple pitcher to sit next to my tanks thinking they could eat the gnats and occasional escaped cricket, but then both plants kicked it in like 2-3 weeks. definitely not a easy plant to care for.
