You can use a florescent light for the daytime and a low wattage infared bulb at night.

Yeah, prefer the blue as well. I don't even use any lights, just what comes through my windows.

oh yea i saw that pic of your enclosure. its really nice but its temporary right? untill it grows up? what substrate is that. it adds a nice dimension to your enclosure but ar ethe pieces big enough so that it wont cause impaction? im scared of using substrates that can cause impaction. what are some nice substrates to work with that dont cause impaction with naturlaisitc setups? im using papertowels right now for my hatchlings

I use a 25 gallon tank... it's actually four inches taller than a 30. For substrate I use Zoomed eco-earth. I have a UV light, but have not turned it on at all this summer... and my live plants are doing great. I bought some cheap vines from a craft store. Anyway, I have great pics but I'm apparently retarded b/c I can't figure out how to upload them. I can e-mail them to you if you'd like.

do your geckos hide all day? i dont see many hiding spots on your enclosures but i guess thast kind of a plus since i'l be wanting to view them, and sine they are most likely captive born they wont mind right? or at least wont mind as much as a wild caught.. and blaze_magic_dexter, how big is the tank and how muchw as it? i saw those selling at petco but they were aroudn 100 dollars for the biggest one.. which didnt even look liek a 30 gallon
