    Default New Crestie Owner

I currently have a bearded dragon (in the past turtles, leopard gecko, black snake... years ago, birds and dogs). I thought I would like to have something else but was not sure what I wanted. I started checking out many forums and websites. I thought about many different ones but kept coming back to Crested Geckos... it was the face. They are gorgeous creatures. Thanks to everyone who participates in these discussions and produces the web information.

This weekend my daughter and I made a trip to South Carolina just to attend the reptile and exotic animal show. I tried very hard not to be impulsive. IT WAS HARD! I found the "perfect" cresties. I had decided exactly what I was looking for in a crestie (knowing of course that they can change... I wanted tiger stripes). Well, I found them but it did not feel right, plus the cost was more than I had planned. So we looked around some more. I had decided that it was not time for me to have a crestie when my daughter spotted two containers on a table. The young boy opened the container so we could look more closely and out a beautiful baby. I instantly fell in love. Then, we search under the shredded paper towels and found one almost identical. The price for both was less than one at the other both. Two days after bringing them home one of them is showing signs of tiger stripes (cross your fingers). Thanks for letting me be long winded... like you had a choice in the matter.

Here they are. I will post better pictures when we take them.

Can any one tell me colors and so forth? They are appoximately 8 weeks old (I think). They are eating various types of baby food well but have not eaten any crickets yet (the crickets I have are very small). Thanks for looking.

In the top picture the one on the right has beautiful eye lashes, not sure on the colors. You may want to start switching them over to CGD, and not so much baby food. You can do a search on here, I don't think just baby food is a good diet, unless it is properly mixed with vitamins and such, which you may be doing, not sure, but anyway welcome to the wonderful world of cresties! Once you start it's hard to stop! Good Luck with the little guys!

Okay, welcome to the forums, you are in the right place.

Concerning the babyfood, don't feed it if you prefer animals to be in great health with much less guess work, I am saying it is near impossible to get babyfood to be healthy, simply throwing some calcium into the mix will do next to nothing. They need more than sugar and calcium. Repashy's crested gecko diet is the only food that is a guaranteed complete diet, with years of tuning the diet to perfection.

Babyfood has been assosiated with numerous problems including MBD, and general unhealthiness.
