My smaller corn snake Marrow has been in my house for three or four months (I'd have to check my calender to see just when) and she's about 15-16 inches long now.
When I took her out today to see if I could expect a shed sometime soon (I'd found she'd gotten ahead of me a little later, her shed was hidden under the paper towel). When she was stretching over to get at my other hand, I noticed that once she started trying to scooch... -I guess that's the word I'll use- across, the part of her middle hanging in the air in between my hands had an odd movement on bottom. Her belly-rib things seemed to twitch abnormally. Not the back and forth like I'd see before but a sort of going down so that it poked her skin down/out a little.
Am I just being paranoid? She's growing much smaller than my other corn I'd gotten the same day, and despite her eating the same as he does, she has hardly grown at all. An inch and a half at most, in three months. Might the two things be related?
If no one knows what might be going on, I think I'll be getting ready to take her to the vet Monday. I really appreciate any feedback!
Oh yea, stats:
Age: between 5-6 months (that's an estimate)
Size: 15-16 inches
Gender: Looks to be female
Eats: one defrosted pinky mouse every 5-6 days (slowly moving up to larger pinkies)
Cage: Paper towel, water bowl, 20 gal long tank, 78*F on warm end, 68-70 on cool, Screen top over the entire thign with cage clamps.
Diseases: I had to treat both my corns for mites. I used an organic mite-reptile-spray that worked wonders.
Cleaning: Spot clean for poop, full clean with vinegar when needed.
