Hey everyone, long time no post. For those of you that may remember, I got this little 3 week old ackie back in July. Well he had a rough start due to stress and such, but now hes doing absolutely fabulous! Here are some new pics and vids of him eating a fuzzy and crested gecko eggs today. The first pic is just to show how tiny he was when I first got him (and yes, that is him next to my pinky finger). I didnt think he would eat it as easily as he did. The reason being, in the past 3 days he ate 4 large superworms, one and a "half" crested gecko eggs, and now this. Also, anyone have a guess on sex? Anyways...enjoy!

These guys are GREAT. They're so personable. The breeder I go to has a couple of them and if you scratch the top of the cage the start jumping up going CRAZY. They also trained them to sit up on their hind legs for treats (pinkies and such). I like that picture of him with the egg--that's great... I definately wouldn't mind have one (or two) of these.

How big is he? That pinky if what I saw is correct looked like the size of a toy breed chiwawa.

Here's a picture of the ones that sit for food.

They are quite entertaining animals.

Thanks everyone! And yes, they are yellow ackies (Varanus acanthurus brachyurus). The mouse was a fuzzy. For other size reference, those eggs were crestie eggs. I dont know the ackies length though. However Livialeigh, those varanids in your picture are Argus monitors. Thanks everyone,

I'd hope so. Do you know any breeders selling some at a good price? I'm interested in one.

Yes, of course those crestie eggs were infertile! :) Oh and just check out the KS classifieds for ackies available.

I'm looking at these

I guess I'll have to be waiting before I can afford one. I really want an argentine tegu more. They're the same price or cheaper to purchase. Unfortunately I have nothing to keep an adult tegu in right now. Do you think it'd be worth starting with an ackie first?

Nice Ackie!!! I'm getting a red or a yellow in a few weeks after I pay off some cresteds.

I've seen several ads for pairs that are siblings. Shouldn't you avoid breeding siblings? There's no telling in the parents are siblings. How can you get a sexed pair that aren't relating?
