OK, I don't have a pic of me yet in the computer so I'll have to add the mug shot later. For now shots of the menagerie will have to suffice.
My name is Sarah, and I'm an linguist in the Army. One of the best parts of my job is that I work for an oxymoron-- Military Intelligence. :P In my life I've kept all kinds of animals from horses to hedgehogs.
I have a Biology degree with a focus on Freshwater Biology. I am originally from the great state of Vermont-- the greatest state in the union. (I tell everyone around me how great VT is on a regular basis. They take some convincing, but they come around). I love being on this forum and I have learned a ton from everyone here.
Here are a few residents of Meriwether's Menagerie:
Our cat, Jade. She was a skinny, fevered rescue when we got her from a really lousy animal shelter. What a change.....

Our dog, Harley (an Italian Greyhound)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a312/RangerGrrl/Harley.jpg
Our GTP Roxy's cage. She is a sweetie and does NOT have the stereotypical "GTP temper". Until she hits one year old, she is arbitrarily female.

Thanks! I'll get a pic of me up when I find one to scan in!

Nice Rangergrrl....think I'll have to post photos of the "zoo" here. We have one of those chairs too that our German Shepherd (Lanie) took over as her own personal bed!! I'll post it once i transfer it to photobucket. :)

Lol. Yup. Two of them. Spazz (Gray and White) and Gabby (Tan and White). Here's 2 pics that I scanned to make one. They look goofy because I took them out of my photo album. (Everything is cut into funky shapes b/c I was bored.) :D :P
Spazz and Gabby... sorry about the size, but I'm too lazy to resize it right now. Lol.:

Sarah, your Iggy pups are adorable! Derek, I had only mutt dogs growing up, but my husband is allergic to most types of dogs, and Iggies are allergy free.
OK, everyone, I dug around my house and I found photos from 3 WHOLE EVENTS in the last 3 years of my life. Just goes to show that I am behind the camera 95% of the time.... (I hate having my picture taken =; ) here they are.
Me at my wedding-- I couldn't duck out of ANY photos that day!

Me in Jan. 2004 in TX. They have these nutria at public parks along with the ducks. Nutria like pretzels.....

Lastly, the most recent pic I could find this Memorial Day Weekend at the Georgia renaissance festival. (The animal on my shoulder is not alive. it is a puppet. I say this because many, many people asked.)

Before I read that bottom part, I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was on your shoulder. Lol. :D
I.G.'s are okay, but I got rid of Spazz and Gabby a long time ago... they were just to darn hyper and psycho floor-pee-ers. (I'm sorry, I mean no offense to your dog at all... I know not all I.G.'s are like this.) With all the dogs I've had and trained in my life, those guys just drove me up a wall. Travis bought them when I wasn't there... we kept them for a year and then sold them after I just couldn't stand them any more. I got my Bulldogs, he got his Shepard... and the world was at peace again. Lol. :P

CrestedLady,
I understand about the hyperness and the housebreaking issues.  It took us a ton of effort to get our dog to pee on puppy pads and not the carpet (we couldn't use crate training b/c he is all traumatized from when the breeder shipped him to us Delta Dash). He is still pooping on the carpet most of the time, but it cleans up without a trace. Plus, he is my husband's dog, and he has primary care of him. Now that he's over a year old, he's really calm 85% of the time. The other 15%, he does laps around the house like a maniac! It's hysterical.
And I told my husband that if he wants a sighthound SO bad, next time we get a Whippet, and I pick it out. Ha.

Lol. I know what you mean about the laps. That part was actually pretty funny. They were like two mini torpedos running around the house, then vaulting over the couch like a bunch of deer. Lol. :D

Nice to see a face there Ranger, this is gonna mess me up now that I know 2 Sarahs on here.....any difference in spelling? one of the upsides of my name is that I rarely meet anyone with it unless it's online...downside people never spell it right until a few actresses became popular with my spelling in the past few yrs.
Trying to rack my brain if I ever saw you in basic, but I really can't remember since it's been a few years! :D

Hey, thanks Ramanth! I love my puppet; I saw one at Arizona RenFaire in '04 and saved until I went to the next faire, and got my gryphon at GA RenFaire! You would never believe how many people think it's alive...... I have a blast at faires.

I believe it! :D I have a latex shoulder dragon that doesn't move so I can't scare anyone. But I do have a Tusken Raider baby that Andy and I created. I treat it like a real baby and people freak out thinking I have a real child in a costume. It's actually just a baby doll, but I tell people that I just sedated the infant. ;)
