so i was with matt al my local show and i noticed a beautiful little crested with giant bug eyes. when i looked closer i noticed an utter and total lack of crests. nothing on the front or rear of the head. and almost no eye lashes either. now if this was a hatchling that would be kinda normal, but this little guy was in the 3 - 4 month range. well i thought it was neat
MATT POST THE PIC ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I've seen quite a few cresteds with a total lack of crests and lashes. It seems like it also really effects the head structure. I noticed that in a lot of crestless geckos the bones in the side of the head protrude more. Needless to say it's very unattractive. :?

maybe it wasnt a crested, a sarinisorum (sp) ?

Naw, envy, if Max says it's a crested, he definitely wasn't confused. I've read about and heard of cresteds that sometimes lose their crests. It's considered wicked undesirable, structurally. It's like they were born bald..... Probably quite embarrassing for them!

I have one that is almost lacking crests... she's got the tiniest crests ever, and yes it does make her head look kinda weird... she doesn't have bug eyes tho.
http://www.spankdriven.com/geckos/gex%20058.jpg I have a better pic at home, I'll post later.
I also have one that is kinda bug eyed, but I'm not sure if it's to the extent you're talking about... will post pics later.

I'd say it was definately a crested. The crestless ones are all over the place.

it is a crested. there is no question of that. its not a hybrid, its just a crestless crested.

i think it is actually quite interesting. we have seen the furs, crowned and now the crestless..lol some people refer to this as a " beaded", well at least geckosbybrad does. if anyone has any " beaded" cresteds, please post pics, we all would like to see..lol

lol, yes she is odd looking ... ugly but cute :P
and speaking of bug eyes, no I don't think it's related to lack of crests, since she is not bugeyed... but thus guy is and he has huge crests:

Thats what I was thinking too, a crest x sara. I have a female that has eyelashes they arent that big either but tiny crest on her head and none on her back. Sounds interesting.

I've spoken to a herper in Hong Kong in a chat room several times and he showed me pics of his cresteds tonight. I've included pics of his breeders here-notice the lack of crests behind the eyes. I thought they were interesting.

are all of his breeders like that? That IS weird... I've seen the odd ones here and there, but never a few in one collection... I guess he's probably breeding that trait, I would imagine most of the offspring would have no crests.

He only has that one pair, but he had some baby pictures too (their offspring) and they looked to have very little crests too. I wonder what else is floating around in their bloodlines.
