Female Chahoua Question

I'm still new to chahouas. I have 2 Mainland juvies. One was sold to me as a male, and another as a female, from a breeder I trust and adore! :)

However, my female is the smaller of the two, and recently, she has developed a puffy vent area. This is reminding me of a hemipenal bulge. My question is . . . do female chahouas have puffy vent areas, too, or did I get two male chubby wrinkle bags, lol?

That does look suspiciously like a hemipenile bulge, but the area in question isn't in focus in either of your pictures. Can you get a focus in the vent area? I'll post a few naughty bits shots of my adult female in a moment for comparison. How many grams is the "female"?

Definitely looking male to me, but as said above, hard to be 100% sure based on the shots.

Have you looked for pores with a loupe?

Well, the gecko in question is definitely at that particular weight where sexing starts to become a lot easier. I'd say it's looking questionably more male than I think you'd might hope. Do you have a loupe? Have you tried louping for pores?

I have a couple absolute females that can look puffy there but that looks more than just puffy and I am leaning toward saying male. I had one that got up to 20 grams before it really started looking boy, so they can and do fool you!

Looks male to me as well, but what would really convince me is if you see any pores. Sputnik who just hit 15 grams for me doesn't show any bulge yet but has very well defined pores.

Mine finally convinced me he was a girl when there was minimal folds at 24 grams, now at 26 I thinking he is a he. Looks like he is packing is side them wrinkles. sigh.

From the second pics, she is looking pretty girly to me. that is how mine use to look. but isn't 16 grams kind of early to show hemipeni?

Based on your second set of pictures i'd guess male. You would have to get a really focused close up shot to see pores there, and at this size if you did see small pores they could even be pseudo pores making it female. But, I noticed it's belly near it's pore area is shiny which in my experience results from males secreting wax from their pores. It could just be the lighting but between the shine and puffy vent I vote male.
