50% off on most geckos, encluding 'eyelash' geckos for.... $17.50! I may just have to stop by and look

I take that back, it seems to be false advertising. they say that price online, that its an in store only price and not available online, but in the fine print it says that stores will not match that price. We'll be contacting corporate to complain and ask where the hell we're supposed to get them for $17.50 if its in store only and stores wont match that price

Our local store has all the reptiles at 30% off.....that's a first that I've seen there in 14 years.

All reptiles at our Petsmart are 50 percent off, but they don't stock cresteds. The discount puts them at the normal price you'd pay a breeder for a HEALTHY, WELL BRED animal, so I don't know that I consider it to be a deal. ;)

I've never found cresties for that price from a breeder

I got a crested for ~ $35 from my petsmart last week...that's ~ 50% off of their normal price (~$69.99)...my store has never had them at $35 regular price...maybe they are that price somewhere (like nova scotia), hence the cheap 50% price you listed... *shrug*

Imperial, wait until after the breeding season when everybody is trying to sell their non-holdbacks before it gets too cold to ship. I literally had to give a lot of mine away.

Apparently they aren't selling well at Petsmart so they aren't going to carry them anymore. That's what I've been told, and I've heard the same story from multiple stores.

They only had the ones here for 30% off the $69.99 price tag. Still I will never again get a crested from any chain store.

And yes you can find cresteds for cheap at the end of breeding season. Multi animal sales/buys will also sometimes save you big.

Imperial, you must not have looked very long or hard. I am frequently seeing geckos for as cheap as 20 bucks, especially when a lot of people are hard pressed for money at the same time. :)

PetSmart & Petco generally have good turn over in crested geckos around here. I think there might be a little price war going on with the two chains. I've gotten some nice large females from PetSmart. They now have a lot of smaller ones, maybe those are what don't sell so well.

I was actually shocked at the size of the 2 at a local PetSmart - maybe 2.5 grams, they were really tiny hatchlings.

thats common. During the winter you get a lot of the hold backs from the whole sellers going into the stores because they need to fill orders but nothing is breeding. In the spring your gonna find little babies coming into the stores. If you see a gecko in a petco or petsmart this time of year over 5g its most like been in the store a few weeks... no matter what they tell you.

The Petsmart in our area sells just a regular Crested - usually missing it's tail -
for $139.99. The past few times I went in there for mealworms/crickets I
noticed it marked down to $49.99. I've NEVER seen one for less than that at
this store though... or any other Petsmart around here for that matter.

Our Petsmart quit selling crested geckos just recently. I paid $35 for Quinn at Petsmart in mid May, and about three weeks later they were out of them and said they wouldn't carry any more because they don't sell well enough. Petco still has them, though.

It's hard to believe that all those other reptiles sell better than the adorable cresties. Must be my personal bias - I live in a rhac bubble I guess. ;)

My guess would be that Petsmart can't compete with Petco's overall cheaper prices.

actually out here aside from Petsmarts animal prices, they're supplies are cheaper then petco

I should have clarified: Petco's Crested prices are usually $49.99 compared to Petsmart which is usually another 20 bucks more, at $69.99.
I know the Petcos out here tend to feed CGD as well, whereas the Petsmarts I've been to only feed babyfood and crickets.

I stopped by petsmart today and they had everything but the frilled dragon significantly reduced in price. Even fish!! The only crestie was a solid green with a nipped tail and horrible crests... I couldn't take her home, not even for 29.99.

Our Petsmart has about $20 off both sizes of their Zoo Med terrariums, and the sale is supposed to last through late August.

I checked out Petsmart yesterday and they only had one little buckskin. I'm just patiently waiting for Petco to have a sale. Around me their cresteds always look better than Petsmart's.

Still I will never again get a crested from any chain store.

I couldn't agree more, I hate giving them any business to be honest.

Peoria, IL has some nice hatchling cresteds. I was mad, I missed female Russian Tortoise by 5 minutes in East Peoria. $50 for a female tortoise that is just as sweet of a deal.

i was pleased to see my local petsmart is now feeding CGD...when they first started carrying cresteds a few months ago (i haven't been in the store since) they were feeding ONLY crickets...i spoke with the reptile specialist, who is very nice and seemed genuinely interested in proper care, so i'm not sure when they changed their diet, but one of the other employees said she has cresteds at home and did a lot of research too.

If you're talking about the Petsmart near Arden they seem cool there. When I read about the sale I ran over there to pick up the two "fancy" corns they had in stock. I went there for only 1 and called as I was headed there, cause it's a 30 minute drive and I didn't want to go the whole way only for them not to have it. I told him I'd be there soon and he was actually nice enough to set the animal aside for me. And then the other one was so pretty I couldn't resist getting it too. Healthiest looking corns I've ever seen at a chain pet store.
