After waiting and worrying about GIGANTIC EGG #4, and finding it sweating, I gave in and pipped it.

This egg was LARGER than the diameter of a quarter.

Inside I found a perfect MINIATURE crestie, along with a HUGE amount of yolk in the GIGANTIC EGG.

It's the saddest thing I've ever seen.

Baby was less than 1/3 the size of a normal hatchling. It could have curled up on my thumb nail...

I never expected anything so small. I was expecting a MONSTER-roaring with life!!

All I can figure is that at some point before absorbing all it's yolk, it had died.

I've been candling it regularly, and I could swear I saw movement.

Must have been wishful thinking, since the baby is so tiny.

Baby was BEAUTIFUL.

I don't know what color it would have been if it had lived and hatched, but it is pale pink right now, and has PURE WHITE markings on it's head and back, and you can see beautiful, very faint flames on it's side.

I just put Baby back inside it's egg shell, and I'll be burying it out under my white climber rose bush.

RIP, my precious little angel.
I wish you'd made it.
You'd have been able to know the love we still feel for you.
See you at The Rainbow Bridge...

Thank you, hon.

I'm sure he went gently.

It just isn't fair.

I agree. And my egg isn't nearly that size either...

Aw gosh, seeing the pics makes it even sadder for me. What a perfect little darling. I wonder what went wrong... *shakes head* You just never know. RIP sweet baby.

Thanks so much, gang!

When I asked Matt to start this board for Amber, I never thought I'd be using it so soon myself.

I had the hardest time getting to sleep last night, just thinking about that beautiful, perfect little pink gecko laying so still in it's shell...

I'm sure that he or she went peacefully, it just hurts so bad to lose such perfection.

I know that something must have gone "wrong" somewhere, but I just can't figure out what it was. And I know that perfect on the outside doesn't guarantee perfect on the inside.

The clutch-mate was fine...](*,)

Probably my gaping tail-thrower, Kappa...

Again-thanks so much for caring.

Awwww, so sad. How many days was the egg at for incubation?
I learned the hard way to never ever pip another egg, as I had a similar experience (however, my egg was leaking yolk). From now on, I will let Mother Nature take her course, as she knows best.
RIP little geckolet. :(

Thanks so much for caring, Saille.

He/she was beautiful, wasn't it? Such pretty markings!!

It's so depressing.

It was in the hatch box for 60 days.

The clutch-mate hatched 3 days earlier. 57 days. And gaped and threw it's tail. Spastic as all Hell, but doing just fine!

The heat here was AWFUL for about 2 weeks. High 80's to low 90's outside and hotter inside-even with 2 fans going.

It was obviously dead for at least two or three weeks before I pipped it.

Not a breath or a twitch.

And believe me-if I though it would have helped, I would have done CPR. I've done it before on my chameleon and on "blue" kittens, and it worked.

But I knew just from the look of it that it was gone.

I wish I could afford AC, but I'm on a fixed income right now.

I'm going to ask Mom for one for my birthday-even though it's in January.

Thanks again, sweetie.
