View Full Version : Possible bad news

No the new guy is fine and actually shed this weekend. Finally eating and looks great. Thankfully.

I/we (wife and I) found out the end of last week that we may be relocating very shortly. The bad news is, we can not have reptiles where we are going. Long story short, a resident had a snake that got out and scared the poppie out of the staff and other residents. So to be fair to everyone, they said no reptiles period. It's only temporary for 6-12 months, but nonetheless we can't take this guy with.

Unfortunately neither of our family members care for reptiles at all. So we will need to find a home for him most likely. I don't want it to be temporary as I know for me in a years time I could easily become very attached to a pet and have him taken back after that time would crush me. We will probably look to sell everything and start over once we are settled. Wherever that may be. That way he stays with soeone that will care for him and we know he will be loved.

We will know more first part of this week. Stinks though.

Bummer...that sucks to have to get rid of him after you start getting attached. Good luck with all of that.

Is there other moving options? Maybe another apartment in the same area so you can take him? Or is this the only possible option?
Hopefully things work out for everyone.

The company is providing the housing so we have no other option unfortunately.

It's official, we are relocating. If anyone is interested in this guy I am going to list him in the Trade section. I unfortunately do not have any pics, but can have some if you need them.:cry::cry:

Poppy, I'm very sorry to hear that. :(
But, on the other hand, I hope that the career change is good for you and your wife and sounds great that the housing is provided by your company! :)

I read your ad in the "Trade" section. You might want to include where you are located since you are not wanting to ship.
Sorry you have to get rid of the little one. :(

Thanks for pointing that out. I included it.

It should be a positive move yes and it is only temporary. Time will tell of course.

Thanks for the support.

I thought the same thing. I had snakes for years and years and never had that issue. Some people just have no clue sometimes of how intelligent animals really are.

This little one is still in need of a new home. Our departure date was supposed to be the end of the month, but that has been moved up to the 18th now. So much for being able to say my goodbyes huh

I may just bring him/her to the swap (if I can make it) and see if I can find a good home there if no-one here wants em.

For those wondering, I did not know that this move was going to happen. It was told to me when I posted here. If I had known I would be relocating or even had the remote possibility, I would not have done this for the animals sake.

Bummer, man. I don't really plan on getting more cresties right now or I'd help you out :( Are you for-sure planning on making the swap tomorrow, or does this pretty much kill your willingness to go?

I am still planning on going. Somethings may change that, but I still plan to show up. Hopefully I can find a new home for him there like I mentioned.

I feel so bad for you. if it is only a temp move why don't you let someone babysit him for a few months or what ever that way you will not be out any money and you can have your wee one back.

Yeah, I'd be more than happy to "sit" for a few months :) I have a quarantine area not currently being used anyway. I just don't have the cash to spend on a new crestie :)

I appreciate that very much, both of you. However the stay which was supposed to be 6-12 months is more than likely going to be 12 months easily and maybe more.

My thought process after a term that long; is the babysitter is going to become attached (I know I would)to the little booger ad it wouldn't be fair to the new parent to do that.

I have 14 now i am getting 3 more Sat. I could and I know Jaybee could part with him. I am not trying to push you and I could help show him for you so you could get some of your money back. Jut throwing options so you don't have to rehome him in an unknown home.

I think you should take up the offer for fostering/babysitting, even long term! That way you have something to look forward to. You've already had an excellent offer, and it would certainly solve the issue of finding a great home!

If I lived closer, I would offer to foster for you as well, but I'm kinda far away.
Whatever you decide, good luck!

My fear is that you will get there and discover that you can have him!

Well thank you again Sandy. Much appreciated. I signed the paperwork this week and it definitely states, no reptiles whatsoever. No exceptions. I was hoping for the same outcome as you were thinking though also.

I actually attempted to argue the cause, but saw quickly it was a no win situation.

I was later told that they did this to be fair to all residents no matter how big or small the animal. Reptiles are not allowed. The sad thing is, this happened because of 1 ignorant pet owner allowing a python to escape. A retic at that.
