From my understanding, a lot of male spiders "drum" when ready to mate, or when they are mature enough to do so... experts elaborate on this, please... so maybe this is what the little guy in the video is doing.

It is cute... him making a complete fool of himself while she looks on, wondering if he's tender or tough, tasty or tart... very cute. :D

My MM (mature male) B. vagans was an avid "drummer" before he got tired and gave up. He was always pacing and banging his little heart out on the sides of the tank... typical behaviour, I was told.

Wow, that was awesome! Poor little guy, though, pouring his heart out...lol. Thanks for sharing that. I hate spiders.. but that was really neat.

lol that's cool. I actually have a tiny jumping spider upstairs in a critter keeper. He/She is pretty neat to watch, and I can't wait until he/she gets bigger.

That was a neat video. I love jumping spiders, I find them all over my outside door this time of the year, they're very interesting animals.

Lol, for some reason my kitten was terrified of the noises from that video. He was sleeping and then got up all nervous and started pacing. Maybe he hears something I don't. Subliminal spider codes!

LOL that was to funny/ cute! I have a ton of jumping spiders here in my house. I catch them and give them to a friend who loves them. I have to say I have never caught them doing that behavior before. :)

Dang...you need to send me a few! My dad actually lets me keep them and they are loads of fun to watch! I had a big one caught the other day but he jumped out of my hands and took a run for it. I want some of the larger ones. They look like mini tarantulas and it's so cute when they are hunting!

Look, I don't know if it's right or wrong, but that spider and I are going to dinner and a movie tomorrow night.

It was the waving legs with the itty bitty black dots on the ends that sealed the deal.

On a somewhat unrelated spider note... I recently got a LED headlight so I didn't have to hold a flashlight when I went outside after dark to check on the horses. I started to notice tiny little bright sparkles show up in the grass where the bright LED light was hitting. On closer inspection they were tiny little reflective spider eyes... generally wolf spiders. I've since noticed that some moth eyes also reflect the light. Obviously a lot of animal eyes reflect light, but I never noticed spider eyes before when using a regular flashlight. Kind of neat.

The female was on a stick, never moved. Was she dead? Was she dipped in spider pheromones to attract the male?

I'm gonna have to hunt for the answers because I have an inquiring mind.

Those were my thoughts exactly, but I stuck my fingers in my ears and went "lalalalalalala" at the thought.

But I'll ask the male tonight over dinner.

Tarantula mature males drum like he was doing at first.....the rest of it though....hehe that was just funny! Its just to let the female know...hey im here im not food....mate with me! With tarantulas the female will normally drum back if she is receptive.
Anyone else think the sound has been added on?
