Awesome! Congrats on the babies, man. Too bad with those 10 slugs...better luck next year with that female I suppose. Just one question. Around what month do you pair the male and females up? I'm hearing everything from October to February. The reason I ask is because I am giving Hogg Islands a shot next year.

Everybody has their own practices and theories. I do what is convenient for me and it is later than most breeders; I cycle all breeders by reducing temps and reducing photoperiod for a couple months starting right after Thanksgiving. Around mid January I start combining pairs and keeping an eye on breeding activities. My babies usually are born in mid to late June which is late for the boa season. However, I usually have a full table of boas for sale in X-mas and January when everybody already wholesaled their animals by fall so I price accordingly. I have a nice trio of Lemke line Hoggs that didn't go this past season so maybe I am not the one to ask?:-k

Here are some choice pics from my 3rd litter which was a poss DH snow x poss DH snow proving to be 100% het albino. Enjoy!

I have a question what is a "slug"? Is it equivalent to a bad egg?

Yeah, its basically an egg that didn't hatch inside the mother.

A "slug" is an infertile ova. Most of the time I encounter a large ratio of slugs to live babies when the male is separated from the female prematurely, a male breeds more than one female, or it's the female's very first litter.
