Sorry to sound like an idiot! :) I know absolutely nothing about plants. Someone here, maybe you? was posting pictures for awhile of some really unusual plants. Some of them had a liquid goo substance in the tubes that they used to catch insects. I couldn't quite tell what I was looking at in that picture, so I was curious if it was a similar type of plant to those, or if water had just pooled in it.

Oh, no worries...I know the thread you're talking about, but I'm afraid I was not the original poster. The plants in that thread were of the genus nepenthesis ("pitcher plants") and the liquid in the 'pitcher' actually have enzymes that allow the plant to digest prey. The plant in this thread you're referring to is just a bromeliad species (one of about 700 or so) and flowers in the center instead of growing a large [extending] flower like many of the common ones we see.
